Roger is General Manager of Science - Sustainable Production at Plant & Food Research.
He is responsible for the overall direction and performance of multi-disciplinary science teams working on a wide range of programmes supporting sustainable horticulture arable cropping. Formerly Director of Research Development at the Foundation for Arable Research (FAR), Roger was responsible for building research collaboration nationally and internationally to support the New Zealand cropping sector. Prior to this, Roger was Head of Science at the Royal Horticultural Society in the UK. Here he managed the RHS science and advice team undertaking applied research projects relevant to horticulture. Prior to joining the RHS in 2008, Roger worked for in the R&D department of the UK’s Home-Grown Cereals Authority. Managing a portfolio of research projects on behalf of UK arable farmers, Roger took a particular interest in precision farming which featured prominently in the research programme at that time.
